Golden eye chain top

I don’t often make pieces in gold as I find it so hard to find a gold colour that I like so this piece feels extra special as it’s taken me so many years to find all the right reclaimed pieces to create this full piece.

I have always been fascinated and drawn to the what we often refer to as The evil eye but is in fact the ocular eye amulet.

The evil eye itself is actually a curse whereas the eye ocular amulet or sometimes referred to as a bazar is there to dispel the curse and offer protection.

The curse of the evil eye stems from the belief that someone who achieves great success or recognition also attracts the envy of those around them. That envy in turn manifests itself as a curse that will undo their good fortune. The eye of Horus or blue glass beads that we use today have taken on many different forms for centuries as a form of protection or to ward off this negative energy. This symbol has been used by The romans, Greeks, Egyptians and many others so we see this eye symbol reflected in many ways.

The specific pieces I have used have been collected for a long time so difficult to remember their exact origin but they would have originally come from these regions.

This piece is adjustable at the back of neck and centre back. Due to the chest coverage it would be best suited to an XS up to a M roughly a size 12 but suited to a smaller cup size up to a large C or D.
